Allergy advice for makeup artists
Grimas Professional makeup products are specially formulated for sensitive skin.
Because people can be allergic to almost anything, we can't say you will not have a reaction to Grimas Makeup.
We can say that Grimas Professional is the highest quality professional makeup with none of the most common allergy-causing ingredients. This means it is much less likely to cause a reaction.
Perfumes are the commonest cause of contact allergy from cosmetics. Grimas Professional makeup is unperfumed.
Gluten molecules are too big to affect you through your skin, but makeup can be accidentally ingested - especially lipstick. Grimas Makeup makeup is gluten free.
If you have had allergic reactions to makeup before
People who suffer from flexural eczema, asthma, or hay fever are more likely to have an irritant or allergic reaction to makeup. You may have had an allergic reaction to makeup in the past. If you think you may be at risk of reacting, you can do a simple test before using your makeup for the first time.
Put a small amount of the makeup in a place where the skin is thinnest. Two good places for this are in the crook of your elbow and behind your ear. Leave the makeup in place as long as possible up to 24 hours. If you experience any tingling or stinging, remove the makeup and return any unused product you have bought from us for a refund.
Avoid skin damage when removing your makeup
The removal method depends on the makeup but the things to avoid are:
- Mechanical damage to the skin by heavy rubbing.
- Opening the pores with water that is too hot.
- Loss of natural oils by using unsuitable solvents e.g. alcohol-based wipes.
